About Me

As a child, I loved drawing and coloring, which I still love to do with my grandchildren. My career has taken me from wife to mother to grandmother; and from receptionist to a Masters degree in education and an elementary teacher to a part time art teacher of adults.  I am a member of the Society of Decorative Painters and the TEAM of Southwest Florida (artteachers.org). I am a certified teacher of the Donna Dewberry One Stroke method of decorative art (OSCI). I have studied with many talented and varied artists including: Brenda Harris, Michael Darr, and Jerry Yarnell.   I enjoy teaching others to paint and to love the creative process of art.  I give all the credit and glory to God for my talent, and Jesus is my Master Artist Lord.

About Me

I became a professional artist with the publication of my two books, "The First Rosalie of Philadelphia" and "The Diary of Benjamin Reynolds".  Both are historical journals written in the 1840's.  I transcribed, illustrated, and in the case of my second book actually embellished my g.g. grandfather's entries, making me an author too.  I made these books "camera ready" for my publisher, Heritage Books, Inc., Maryland in 1993 and '94.

My career took off after that so I left Real Estate after sixteen years and pursued an Art career.  I became an art editor for a magazine in Charlotte, NC, "The Collector",  that had a distribution of 70,000 and sold in England too.   I started doing commissioned work and then began teaching at Edison College when we retired fourteen years ago to Punta Gorda.  I still teach at various places parttime when I can.

I attended the University of Rhode Island and Central Piedmont Community College.  I studied under the late, Boyce Kendrick.  I am a member of the Visual Art Center and  the Arts and Humanities Council of Charlotte County.  I have worked as a site coordinator for Art in Public Places under the Arts & Humanities Council for over 10 years.

I have enjoyed drawing since childhood and I now work in all mediums.  When I became a professional artist in 1993 it was the answer to a life long dream.  My life changed drastically and from then on I began doing what I truly loved the most---Art!!

About Me

I photograph pretty much anything that gets in front of my camera. I prefer natural light photography and use Adobe Photoshop to meld the reality of the subject with my vision of it.

Currently, I'm working on photos taken in 2013, last year and this year at the Cimitero Monumentale di Milano Italia (The Monumental Cemetery in Milan, Italy). Opened in 1866, it covers 2,700,000 square feet filled with contemporary and classical Italian sculptures as well as Greek temples, elaborate obelisks, and other original works.

Recent exhibits: The Opera House Artists exhibit September 1-31 at Martin Realty/Gallery in Arcadia.

Art of the River/Rio de la Paz Festival in Arcadia, Florida in February 2015.

Most gratifying award: Third place in photography by judge, Clyde Butcher, for my black and white photo of the FLA Post #4143 VFW Riders at the Art of the River Exhibit in February, 2014. Being given this award by a master of black and white photography, felt like a true validation that I'm on the right path.

Mid-western at birth, I lived in Norfolk, VA, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL and Asheville, NC before moving to southwestern Florida in 1999.

Education: B. S. in Fine Arts with Highest Honors from Northeastern University in Boston - Studio Major in Painting.

About Me

Painting is something I always wanted to do, but always figured I have to wait until I retired. About that same time I discovered the work of The Highwaymen and was strongly influenced by it. One day I realized that if I waited until I retired, there's a good chance I'd never get to do it.  So I bought some paint and brushes and went for it.   I really enjoy painting.  And havng lived in SW Florida for 40 years I've come to love the scenery.  Being lucky enough to have a horse, I get to go to places alot of people can't.  I like to paint those places and share them.

I joined the Desoto Arts and Humanities Council to meet others who also enjoy art.  This year I became President of the Council.
